Charming, comfortable guest cottage, It's a converted carriage barn next to a 1700's fairy tale stone farmhouse, both on the National Historic Register. Half a mile from Rhinebeck village, one of the prettiest towns in the Hudson Valley, with many restaurants and farmers markets.
Time from New York City: 2-3 hours by car. Amtrak, MetroNorth trains: 1.5 - 2 hours. Accommodations: An 1850 carriage barn converted into a one bedroom guest house, with its own kitchen and bathroom. Dining area with vintage country table and chairs. Sunny living room with French doors to a large deck, where you can eat at an elegant ironwork table and chairs overlooking the country garden, a little oasis which features majestic Norway spruces, gorgeous fruit blossom trees, rose beds, and native American plants. Extra long leather couch and comfy chairs in the sitting area. The bedroom, reached by a partially open staircase, sleeps 2 to 4, with one queen bed and one full bed. The kitchen is equipped with electric stove, dish washer, fridge, and basic dishes, glasses, cooking utensils etc. Bed linens, blankets, duvets, and towels are all provided. Overhead fans in the summer, electric baseboard heat in the winter. You have your own parking area and private entrance to the guest cottage. The garden is shared with the occupants of the adjacent old stone house. Enjoy our eclectic collection of art, history and gardening books. WiFi and cable. A perfect center for history jaunts to Olana, Montgomery Place, Clermont, Mills Place, Vanderbilt House, FDR's home and library, Eleanor Roosevelt's house. Kayaking and sailing in the Hudson. Great hikes on the Rhinebeck side of the river and on the other side in the Catskills. Close to Kingston (oldest colonial town in NYC after New York and Albany). Great antiquing in neighboring areas and north to the town of Hudson. Lots of horse riding options. Convenient for Dutchess Fairgrounds - frequent shows for antiques, old cars, wool and sheep, food and wine. Tennis courts and outdoor pool in the village.
